Blogtober: 10 Best Halloween Movies

So it is getting close to Halloween so this is my list go to movies to watch. Keep in mind gory ones just do not scare me at all. I liked them when I was 12 and watched a lot of them. But now it is just sort of boring. I mean Hellraiser was great and others as well. But they really are not for me now. I like ghosts and paranormal ones. Some of them have that creep factor because entities can exist… but not be seen. And that idea creeps me out sometimes.

So the ones I have chosen are some of my favourites Halloween movies in that area.

10 Best Horror Movies

The Haunting of Hill House- currently on Netflix

I really enjoyed this and it had the right creep factor in it

The Exorcist

This is a classic. And if you haven’t seen it check it out

The Grudge

It takes a lot to impress me with a horror movie but this one has serious creep factor

The Shining

I loved the book and I loved the movie

The Conjuring

I enjoyed this one and is a good one to be included in a movie marathon

Insidious

At the same level as the Conjuring but I would say it was decent

The Amityville Horror

I’d say this is a pretty good classic one to watch as well

Poltergeist

A definite classic to check out. The first is the best though. As is always the case

Silent Hill

I loved this one. It was fascinating to me the way they set up that world.

The quiet place

Just a great story overall. But I did have a bit of a duh moment at the end. But well worth watching overall

Now there are some new ones I wouldn’t mind checking out

  1. I loved The Haunting of Hill House (original, black-and-white) and The Shining. The Exorcist was certainly creepy, but I found it to be almost too unsettling. Thanks for the reminder of Winchester, which I also still want to see!

    1. I just watched Winchester on Netflix last night it was a good movie but not too creepy. The exorcist is unsettling and I think that is why it is so good. These unseen forces that are malicious… creepy

  2. Yup, seen all of these (apart from Haunting of Hill House on Netflix) – some great picks!
I actually really enjoyed Scream too when it came out (and a few of the later ones, too). And Psycho, really liked that many many years ago.
I need to check out some of the newer ones, like The Nun. Happy Scary Movie watching! 🙂
