I saw this prompt on Prophecy six and thought why not?
Taurus traits
Strengths: Reliable, patient, practical, devoted, responsible, stable
Weaknesses: Stubborn, possessive, uncompromising
Taurus likes: Gardening, cooking, music, romance, high quality clothes, working with hands
Taurus dislikes: Sudden changes, complications, insecurity of any kind, synthetic fabrics
Now I do not believe the stars dictate our personalities or fate. That being said I loved doing my astrology chart when I was a kid. This is because I was fascinated with all things that could claim to perceive my personality. I would see where it was right and where it was wrong. I would contemplate the metaphysics of it. What premise it was standing on. My favorite was the Myers-Briggs personality test. I am an INTP by the way, which does describe me to a T. Anyway all sorts of these things and tests and methods fascinated me as a teen.
If I were to believe in this, would the Taurus sign be accurate for me? In some aspects it can be, in others not so much. I am reliable and patient. I am stubborn at certain times, but for the most part very easy-going. Here is the thing. Taurus is often seen as materialistic and I am definitely not. If I have books I am really quite content. They say to court a Taurus woman to flaunt the finer things in life. To take her to fine places. Yeah, no. I am as laid back as they get. If you flaunt all your ‘toys’ I will think you are a douche-hole. I don’t like braggarts. However we are also seen a very tactile and I have a thing for soft fabric. If it feels nice then I tend to like it. I shop by touch. As for this idea we have conservative views, well, I am very liberal. Taurus is also seen as very loyal to friends and protective of family, this is a trait I value. Now they always say that as a negative trait we are lazy. I can be lazy. Nice lazy Sunday with a good book. Truly though sometimes I lack motivation.
Gardens die around me. I cannot cook worth a damn but have been slowly learning some basic simple recipes. Because I have to eat, not because I like to cook. Everyone likes music, so come on. In musical talent I am lacking. I can play the piano but never had any real skill in it. I am not very romantic nor do I expect a man to be to be honest. I think Valentines Day is sort of just this commercial day and don’t expect anything on it but appreciate the effort when I do. I am too much ‘in my head’ to be romantic. I do not wear high quality clothes and would rather have more cheap clothes than less quantity of expensive clothes. I don’t see what the difference is. Brands? Big deal. I have no idea how to work with my hands and am in fact exceptionally clumsy.
However, I do Not like change. Change is not my friend. Change always sucks. If everything would just stay the way I want it, I would be happy. Complications? Who the hell likes complications? Not this chick, is who. I have no idea if I like synthetic fabrics because I never pay attention to fabrics.
So you know I can pick and choose the traits that fit me and those that do not. Clearly the ‘likes’ do not. But the ‘dislikes’ all do. Oddly enough when you do your whole chart this sun sign isn’t as important as you think. It is fun to do. For entertainment. Because it is more complex you can find a lot more in common with your personality that way. More signs are involved then. Which is why people can think astrology has some sense to it. But I would recommend Myers-Briggs any day if you want a personality test.
